When I look at this picture, I think of the many talents represented by one simple photo:
I see the talent of the photographer, who captured this moment,
I see the talent of the craftsman who created this beautiful instrument.
I see the talent of the artist (John Denver) whose image is inlayed in the ebony fret board
And I see the talent of the artist holding the instrument, The great John Stewart, whose songs, along with John Denver’s, will be remembered for all time.
I remember on this day, the day the photo was taken, John Stewart got up in front of the audience and told the story of how he decided to become a songwriter, and on one particularly non-productive day he said to himself, “I worked all day long and I’ve only written one song!” Well, that song was titled “Daydream Believer” and became a hit song all over the world, bigger than John could have ever imagined.
John Stewart didn’t know at first that “Daydream Believer” would be a hit song, just as I, at first, didn’t appreciate the deeper meaning in this photo. Talent takes time to recognize, it takes time to develop. The level of talent you see in this one simple photo also takes faith, determination and a life-long dedication to the art that it represents.

08/28/2012 The Summer heat is almost over and the Fall will bring some interesting photo assignments. October will bring the Professional Bull Riders back to Las Vegas for the Championships and our friends in Long Beach, California will be ready for us to shoot the West Coast Speed Boat Races. Jeff will have the chopper in Mexico for the Baja Road Races again in September. Thanks to everyone who sent e-mails, cards and letters to Cheryl. She is responding well to the chemotherapy and we anticipate a full recovery.
07/11/2012 We just got back from Colorado and really enjoyed shooting a concert at the Red Rocks Amphitheater. The day I flew out the fires to the north were ominous! We are looking into expanding our aircraft company from the Caribbean to Belize. Jason (my son) and I love the S.C.U.B.A. diving Belize has to offer - the business will be good too. We want to thank all of our regular commercial clients for sticking with us during the slow times. Everything is picking back up and the commercial photography business is booming once again!
